HEALTH PROGRAMS

The highest level of societal health is in everyone's best interest. It is not just about doing what is morally right; it will also ensure peace, stability, and prosperity around the world. One of the few values that everyone can agree on is good health.

FOOD & NUTRITION

More than 2.6 million children under the age of five are stunted, and more than 270 children of that age die each year due to poor nutrition.
In December 2017, a photographic reportage, commissioned by an Italian NGO, took me to travel to Burkina Faso. The NGO has been operating for several years in the sub-Saharan country with projects aimed at containing malaria, which is endemic among the Burkinabé population. In these two images we see some women teaching other women how to prevent contagion caused by the Anopheles mosquito, carrier of the disease. In their demonstration, these women illustrate how to use mosquito nets to avoid being affected by the infection.

MOTHER & CHILD PROGRAM

The health of women and children is vital to creating a healthy world. Despite great progress, there are still too many mothers and children dying—mostly from causes that could have been prevented. In 2021, 1,580 women died from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. 99% of these deaths occur in developing countries. More than 2.6 million children under the age of five are stunted, and more than 270 children of that age die each year due to poor nutrition.
